Facilities
Aquatic Environment Management Department of College
of Fisheries, Kishanganj is actively engaged in teaching,
research and extension on various aspects of fisheries
including water and soil quality management, emerging
pollutants, groundwater contamination and aquatic
biodiversity. The lab is equipped with state-of-art
instruments such as HPLC, Spectrophotometer, Flame Photometer, Multi-parameter water analyzer, BOD incubator, refrigerated centrifuge etc. Department have two ongoing institutional research projects and conducted need based externally funded trainings and workshops for fish farmers.
Activities
- One-day workshop on “Soil and Water Quality analysis in Aquaculture” was organized by Department of Aquatic Environment Management, College of Fisheries, Kishanganj in collaboration with Department of Fisheries, Kishanganj on the occasion of World Soil Day (5th December, 2022) at District Fisheries office, Khagara, Kishanganj.
- Department of Aquatic Environment Management, College of Fisheries, Kishanganj organizes awareness programme under Mission Life Style for Environment (LIFE) on theme “Solutions to Plastic Pollution” from 04-05th June, 2023 on the occasion of World Environment Day-2023. The awareness campaign will include a series of events such as Poster Competition, Photography Contest, Plantation Drive, Awareness Rally and Slogan Writing Competition.
- Department of Aquatic Environment Management organized Three-days training on ‘Soil and Water Quality Management in Freshwater Aquaculture’ sponsored by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad from 28–30th November, 2023. The programme witnessed active participation of twenty-five progressive fish farmers from Kishanganj and Purnea districts of the Seemanchal region of Bihar.
- World Soil Day-2023 was organized by Department of Aquatic Environment Management, College of Fisheries, Kishanganj in collaboration with Department of Fisheries, Kishanganj, Govt. of Bihar. The program includes series of events such as Plantation drive, World Soil Day lecture, Distribution of Soil parameter testing kits, Farmers-Scientist Interaction, Release of documentary on “Matsya Palan mein Jal Gunbarta Prabhandhan”.
